If you are thinking of building a website for your club or society, first read this…

Even if you think you know what a Blog is, ensure that you know the advantages of a Blog over a traditional website for your club or society.

1. Articles are listed in chronological order with the newest article at the top
This is consistent with almost any blog out there. In fact the Blogging engine that you use will automatically do this for you.

This makes it great for a club or society, as your members or intended audience never has to search for latest news, events and happenings. It will be right there, where you want it to be.

A Blog even orders the posts in various categorises without any effort on your part.

You will therefore easily be able to ensure that current, relevant information has the most prominence on your website.

2. It’s easy to add new content
Traditional Websites are just too technical. It’s virtually impossible for the ordinary person to add content to their website.

Even content management systems are very difficult for the ordinary person to implement and keep updated.

With a blog, if you can post an email you can post an article. It’s as simple as that.

All you need to focus on is your content. The Blog manages itself if set up correctly.

Having a good Blog Template that is correctly set up can keep your club or society running for years without any technical help.

If, by next week this time, you don’t have your website up and running, you are doing something wrong. Contact me and I will do it all for you. So that you can get back to running your club or society.

3. Content is updated frequently
Another major problem with traditional websites is their static nature. Companies that have dynamic websites need people who know PHP, HTML, ASP and a host of other technical information.

Blogs have changed all that and have lowered the barrier to publishing online. Because it is so easy, you can update your content regularly, even daily. Your members will be pleased that you are always providing them with current information and your club or society can become very popular because of its excellent communication.

4. Updates can be sent to email addresses automatically
Your members don’t even have to worry about going to your website if they don’t want to. They can subscribe to your blog and receive updates via their email or RSS feeds. Your updates can point them to your website if you want them to read more details.

5. Blogs allow people to leave comments
By letting your members or prospective members leave comments, you can quickly and easily get an idea if your club or society is running well or not.

You can then respond to this and keep them updated on your progress via your blog.

5. You can build up a community
Your club or society is a community. You can keep this community active online by blogging. Online social networks are very popular, especially by the younger generation. Blogs are therefore a great mechanism to get ‘new blood’ into your club or society.

I hope these tips can make you run your club or society easier and more efficiently. Make your club’s blog a great place to hang out and watch it grow.

Don’t try to do this yourself. Let me set up your blog for you and within a week you can have a great, professional online magazine that manages itself.

All you have to do is post articles!
